Brian Alves is an Associate Professor and the Chairperson of Art + Design at Salem State University. He has been an educator, installation artist, graphic designer, art director, museum technician and gallery curator among other things for the past 24 years. Further, he once cleaned a large floor with only a Q-Tip while studying with Allan Kaprow – a pioneer of the “Happening.”
After receiving his MFA in 1996 from the University of Iowa's infamous and prestigious Intermedia department. He began teaching web design in 1997 before the web was even much of a thing. He regrets not having purchased stock in Google when he had a chance.
Brian has been a member of the AIGA, the professional association for design since 2005 and a member of the American Alliance of Museums since 2016.
