My research is in the interdisciplinary areas of Peace Studies, Women's Studies, Environmental Studies and Ethics.  I am particularly interested in the grassroots environmental movements of India led and/or followed by women, which follow the Gandhian method of 'Satyagraha'.  I am also interested in comparative analysis of the western and nonwestern viewpoints in applied ethics. I have co-edited with Dr. Doris Hunter, An Anthology of Nonviolence: Historical and Contemporary Voices, 2002, Greenwood Press

I was the Chairperson of the Philosophy Department and coordinator of IDS--BLS (Bachelor of Liberal Studies) Applied Ethics and Philosophy of Art & Culture concentrations from Fall 2001 - Spring 2010.  I am responsible for teaching Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Women, Eastern Philosophy, Alternatives to Violence and the honors course Topics in Ethics.  Additionally, I am a member of the Earth Day Committee, Undergraduate Research Symposium and University Wide Sustainability Task Force.  I am also an outside dissertation committee advisor for a candidate at Lesley University
