Lauren Torlone has been an adjunct professor in the Media and Communication department at Salem State University since 2015. She is also a contributing writer at Northshore Magazine. Prior to this, Torlone spent a decade working in Washington, DC for national broadcast news networks CNN, Fox News Channel and C-SPAN, where she covered everything from breaking news to U.S. policy, global and national politics, presidential campaigns, international events and more. Lauren has a bachelor's degree in media studies from The Catholic University of America and a master's degree in liberal arts with a focus on international affairs from Georgetown University. She lives on Boston's north shore with her husband, two sons and their two beloved family dogs. She is a pop culture aficionado, a major Swiftie and the instructional designer and creator of MCO495: The Media Impact and Societal Influence of Taylor Alison Swift, which made its course debut in SSU’s MCO department in Spring 2025.
