Professional Biography

Dr. Lee A. Brossoit founded the HESA program at Salem State University in 2004. He is currently the Assistant Provost at Salem State University.  In this role, he is responsible for the direct supervision and leadership of the Center for Academic Excellence - a comprehensive academic support department focused on improving student success. He provides leadership to 30 FTE’s, including staff from Academic Advising, Disability Services, Retention Services, TRIO, Upward Bound, First Year Experience, Summer Bridge, Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Veterans Affairs, Student Transition and Engagement Program, Navigate, and Peer Mentoring. Prior to this position, Lee served as the inaugural Assistant Dean of Graduate Admissions. In this position, he was responsible for the oversight of all Graduate admission functions including marketing, recruiting, communications, enrollment projections, supervision and policy development. Prior to this, he served as the Assistant Dean of Student Life in which he oversaw the Department of Residence Life, the Office of Judicial Affairs and the Office of Family Programs and served as the advisor to the Student Government Association. Additionally, Dr. Brossoit is the past coordinator of the Masters of Education in Higher Education in Student Affairs program at Salem State University. Dr. Brossoit received both his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo and his Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He has worked in various administrative positions at the University at Stony Brook, Syracuse University, and the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
