Professional Biography

Ph.D. (Geology), May 1988; Boston University; Boston, MA. Fields of study: Sedimentation and Stratigraphy, Regional Geology

M.A. (Geology), May 1978; Boston University; Boston, MA. Fields of study: Hydrology, Geomorphology , Coastal Geology

B.S. (Earth Science), May 1976; Keene State College; Keene, NH.

Professional Interests

As a geomorphologist and generalist my interests are broad. Most of my past publications stemmed largely from surficial and bedrock mapping in the State of Maine. My interests include the sedimentology of  Paleozoic metasediments (mostly turbidites) and general New England geology, both bedrock and surficial. I am also investigating the role of climate change and urbanization on increased flooding in New England.

Responsibilities

Coordinator of the MAT in Middle School General Science

Personal Interests

I enjoy hiking and biking and exploring geology with colleagues.  When I can't get outside I play around with Web 2.0 resources and explore different ways of presenting content. For example visit my glogs and watch a sample Prezi presentation.

Favorite TV shows: 30 Rock, Glee, Castle and the Cobert Report--the only news I trust.

I am a founding member and officer of the North Shore Chapter of Sigma Xi and a long-term devotee of the New England Intercollegiate Geologic Conference, which I thoroughly look forward to attending (with students) every fall.
