I earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, a Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a PhD from the University of Louisville. After practicing as a social worker in child welfare, healthcare, non-profit development, and community organizing, I joined the faculty in the School of Social Work at Salem State in 2009.
My research and professional interests include child welfare; disability; diversity, equity, and social justice; social work education, workforce development, and leadership; and social work and the natural environment.
I enjoy reading (especially biographies and historical non-fiction), climbing, spending time outdoors, listening to and playing music, watching movies, dancing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
