Professional Biography

I have been a librarian at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts, since 1996. At the University, I serve as the Collection Management Librarian and the subject specialist for the Department of Music and Dance. Prior to arriving at Salem State University, I worked in libraries at Cornell University and Indiana University-Bloomington. I hold a Masters in Library Science and Bachelor of Music from Indiana University-Bloomington, IN.

My professional activities have included serving in leadership positions in the Association of College and Research Libraries, on committees and positions in the American Library Association, in the Northeast Massachusetts Regional Library System (now Massachusetts Library System). serving on committees in MBLC and NOBLE, and in leadership positions for the faculty/librarian union (MSCA) both locally and state-wide. 

Professional Interests

My professional interests include collection management of library materials, information literacy and instruction, reference services, licensing, workplace betterment through union activities.

Responsibilities

As Collection Management Librarian I plan and coordinate the selection and management of library resources in all formats. This includes negotiating pricing;  assisting in the licensing of resources; managing access to resources; supervising serials, cataloging; and acquisitions (databases, print, media, and serials); and overseeing the library's materials budget, 

Serving as the subject specialist to the Department of Music and Dance, I provide reference, instruction, and collection development support to the students and faculty in this department..

Personal Interests

Outdoor adventures including skiing, biking, walking, paddleboarding,. I love being in nature. In addition, I also enjoy playing my clarinet in the University's Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, and various community music groups.
