Pamela Halpern received her PhD from Boston College and taught at Northeastern University as well as in the Lynnfield Public School District before coming to Salem State. Her passion is mathematics and she has done research in the areas of math and literature, gender issues in mathematics, and is currently researching the effects of high-stakes testing on math anxiety and the retention of mathematical concepts. Pam continues to teach EDU347 Math Methods for Elementary Teachers as well as EDU 305 Connecting the Math You Know to the Math You Teach, and the graduate course EDU 759N Math for Elementary and Middle School Teachers, as well as the education courses in the Middle School Mathematics Master program.
