DR. THOMAS JUDE HALLAHAN Dr. Hallahan received his B.S. in Communication Disorders from SUNY Geneseo, his M.A. in Audiology from The Ohio State University, his M.Ed. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University, and his Sc.D. in Audiology from Boston University. For the past seventeen years, he has been employed as a professor at Salem State Univeristy (SSU), teaching courses in communication sciences & disorders, inclusive education, special education policy, and social justice. Additionally, Dr. Hallahan has consulted with the Massachusetts' Medicaid program (MassHealth) overseeing their prior authorization process for audiology and hearing aid services. Before coming to SSU, Dr. Hallahan taught for four years at Boston University. He has also been in private audiology practice, served as a public school speech-pathologist, a special education teacher's assistant, and a coordinator for a group home for adults with disabilities. However, his greatest accomplishment has been that of parenting his Cambodian born son, Kiric. Dr. Hallahan and his son return to Cambodia often to work with a number of local NGOs working in the area of disabilities and inclusive education.

Responsibilities
Tenured, Professor: 1995-Present, Teaching undergraduate courses in communication sciences & disorders and public speaking for social justice, as well as graduate courses within the areas of inclusive education, language development, and special education practice and policy. Coordinator, Supplemental Instruction: 2004-2007, Responsible for re-implementing this internationally recognized non-remedial instruction program addressing at-risk courses and student retention at the college, with focus on first and second-year students. Position involved managing small budget of $35K and staff of 13 students. Coordinator, Bachelor of General Studies: 1999-2003, Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the General Studies program (presently the Bachelor of Liberal Studies) at the college. This position involved marketing of the program, academic advising, and working extensively with students and faculty to create individualized, inter-disciplinary plans of study.
